The City of Fort Myers created the Fort Myers Redevelopment Agency to manage the City's redevelopment districts. Currently, the City Council and the Mayor, are the Community Redevelopment Agency Board which oversees the FMRA. The FMRA produced the art festival which evolved into ArtFest Fort Myers. The strong support both financially and advisory from the City of Fort Myers and the FMRA continues to be reflected today.
